Electric guitar HELP!? please!?

I'm getting my first electric guitar next week What do I need (apart how to play) Do I need a pick to play electric guitar? Does anyone know of a website where you can get FREE online guitar lessons? something else I should know? Thanks:)

You probably want to know at least the names of open strings (E, A, D, G, B, E), some basic chords, and maybe a scale or two. (as the greater or penatonic) You do not need a pick, because finger can choose, but are cheap and most guitarists like them. I think the instructor or a book is the best way to learn, but http://www.freeguitarvideos.com/ and http://www.cyberfret.com/ are some good websites how to learn guitar. I recommend starting with a used guitar, but decent quality, so that way if you do not like that you did not spend too much, but if you do, you can update. Personally, I like Fender guitars.
