What is the best way to record music at home?

I have no money. What it is however I have a USB microphone, a bass amplifier and a guitar amplifier. All I want to do is record a song as the best quality I can with these tools. I guess what I really need to know is the best (free) software I could use is the establishment of several tracks at a time, that's easy to use. Currently I have Guitar Pro 5 with which I can record decent drum tracks (the samples in this program seems quite good), but if not better (free) software that I can put a drum track that would great to hear. I have Audacity at the moment, but there must be a better program than this for these purposes, but if there is a better free one do not know. Also, what would the best technique to record this, I've only recorded live in a matrix mixer, so I do not know is the best where to start on my own in my room. Thanks much for the answers here.

Reaper is probably your best bet. Earlier versions were free, so if you can find them, it would be to advantage. Reaper fans is far superior to programs like Audacity or GarageBand. You can set the drum parts in the sequencer and VST used to create or use samples of drums. Record of each instrument / part separately. This will make your life easier when the track EQ, which is very important in some genres of music. Make sure you like your room acoustics before recording. Otherwise, there's not much you can do except get more equipment and read up on the recording. There are many great volumes written on this subject which will address a wide range of topics that do not fit here, so do your homework and you should be fine.
